Abstract

My paper is a historical narrative of the people of African descent in Argentina. I discuss their migration from Africa, what life was like in Argentina, the cause for their disappearance and the current status of Black people in Argentina. The Afro-Argentines lived as slaves and then as freed people for several centuries in Argentina; from the 16th century to present. They experienced varying levels of discrimination and were contained in the lower echelon of the social ladder. They have in a sense experience a peaceful genocide; they are gone, at least on paper, and left out of the history books.
